SMET Learning Objectives
An approach for pupils to track their progress during and across lessons.
SMET objectives are something that I have used and developed over the past term in my theory lessons and recently shared across the faculty. I have found that it allows pupils to track their progress in the lesson and also enables the teacher (and observers) to see chances for intervention, differentiation and individual challenge. In addition to this, it has allowed pupils to take ownership of their learning and see what they need to do to improve.
Pupils assess themselves against the learning objectives as soon as they enter the room, they also set themselves a target for the lesson based on their target grade.
Pupils assess themselves against the learning objectives at the half way point of the lesson, or at a relevant point during the lesson.
Pupils assess themselves against the learning objectives at the end of the lesson to see how much they have progressed during the lesson.
